HORMANN AMERICA
AlertNET Servers

Common Alerting Protocol servers for every application

Most AlertNET Systems are built around one or more Common Alerting Protocol servers. These servers may be located at the customer’s location, a third-party hosting facility or at Hormann America. Additionally, Hormann offers AlertNET servers on a “software-as-a-service” basis for customers who prefer not to own or maintain server hardware.

Hormann also offers a complete range of professional services and maintenance agreements. We can create an AlertNET System that both meets your needs and interfaces with the equipment you already own. We are experts in adding CAP features to existing emergency warning systems as well as the design and implementation of turnkey installations.

AlertNET Model 3110 CAP Server

The AlertNET CAP Server is the heart of most Hormann America installations. Its primary task is hosting message creation tools, serving as a message repository, and handling message processing and distribution. The server can also be used to provide a single user interface that ties together multiple warning systems, such as sirens, email, and outbound telephone. Depending on the specific installation and features required, one or more servers may be used.

Additional Server Features

These features may be added to the AlertNET CAP Server:

  • Message Creation Tool -- This software addition provides an easy-to-use, web-based interface for creating CAP messages capable of being used by multiple alerting systems. Supports including audio, graphics and other media within CAP messages.
  • AMBER Alert Tool -- We offer a special template specifically designed for creating AMBER Alert messages over CAP networks.
  • Optional Feeds -- Tools are available to add National Weather Service and U.S. Geological Survey (seismic) messages to your CAP message feed to users.
  • Text-to-Speech Conversion -- The AlertNET Server can be equipped to convert text messages into spoken messages, suitable for use by applications requiring voice capabilities. (Text-to-speech conversion may also be performed at various locations in an AlertNET system, as required).
  • GIS and Mapping -- Precision geographic warnings can be created using either customer-supplied maps or integration with the customer’s existing GIS application/server.
  • Staff Text Notification -- This software add-on provides email notification for staff/first responders in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Staff Telephone Notification -- Provides notification to staff members over the telephone.
  • Staff BAM BOX Notification -- Provides notification via pop-up messages on any Microsoft Windows-based computer that is connected to the Internet.
  • Internet Posting -- Posts warnings and notifications to any web site.
  • Activation-by-Telephone -- Allows authorized users to send pre-scripted warnings by placing a telephone call to the server.
  • Monitoring -- Optional software allows the server to monitor the operation of sirens (using the Model 4101 controller) or EAS activations (using the Model 3330 EAS Monitor and a customer-provided receiver).
  • Scenario Management -- Provides enhanced capabilities for creating and storing warning scenarios and pre-scripted warning activations for future use.
  • Non-Emergency Notifications -- AlertNET Systems, though designed for the rigors of emergency alerts and warnings, are also perfect for non-emergency use. Telephone notification, Internet posting and Warnings-by-Email (below) lend themselves to regular use for day-to-day communication. Emergency agencies might share an AlertNET System with other agencies needing the non-emergency notification capability.

AlertNET Model 3120 Warnings-by-Email Server

The Model 3120 converts CAP messages into easy-to-read email messages suitable for desktop mail applications (such as Microsoft Outlook) or sending to pagers/cellphones/SMS in abbreviated form. The 3120 provides a public sign-up and account management capablity, allowing users to select geographic areas of interest and the types of messages they wish to receive.

The basic unit supports up to 10,000 users. Upgrades are available for up to 20,000 users, up to 40,000 users, up to 300,000 users and for more than 300,000 users. This server also optionally supports our BAM BOX desktop pop-up application, available free and useful for public, news media and staff notifications.

AlertNET Model 3130 Outbound Telephone Notification Server

The Model 3130 accepts CAP messages, converts them into spoken messages, and interfaces with a database or GIS to provide outbound telephone warnings on a real time geographically-selected or preselected basis. Hormann offers hardware capable of supporting 8, 16 or 24 telephone lines. A version of the 3130 that supports connections to hosted outbound dialing services is also available.

AlertNET Model 3200 CAP Gateway

Designed for systems using CAP messages in both emergency and non-emergency applications, or those with internal and external distribution requirements. This gateway assures that only public emergency and non-emergency messages are sent to public networks. All other messages are restricted to internal/private distribution. The server is highly flexible in its potential uses.
