HORMANN AMERICA
Email and Pagers

Email and pagers have special requirements

One of the core features of Hormann AlertNET systems is the ability to send warnings to any device with an email address. Our email features are designed both for internal use, such as first reponder notifications, and public subscription. You can see a publc system in operation at EDIS-by-Email, a free subscription service for warnings in California.

An AlertNET server can send your messages -- properly formatted -- to any device with an email address. With our system, the message you create is converted from the Common Alerting Protocol and into plain text or HTML format. Users who subscribe to your email alerts can select the format the desire -- plain text or HTML -- as well as the length of the message they wish to receive.

Pagers, SMS and other "small screen" devices should select the "headline only" version of the message. Limited to 160 characters, the recommended limit for devices with limited display capabilities. Other subscribers receive the full text of the message.

The look-and-feel and specific contents of the messages may be tailored for your organization's needs. Staff, first responders, and the public might each receive a different version of the message, all three created from information in the original AlertNET message.

Our web-based subscription system allows authorized users, the public, or both, to select both the types of messages they wish to receive and the geographic areas they are interested in receiving messages for.
